What is a dental advocate, and how can one help me?
A dental advocate is an experienced dental professional who helps you understand your dental care, ask the right questions, and make informed decisions with confidence. There are no hidden agendas or financial ties.
Do you go with me to my dental appointments?
We can! In-person services provide extra support at appointments—like help asking questions, lessening anxiety, understanding what’s being said in real time, or just having someone there to advocate for your needs face-to-face.
What if I live too far away?
No problem at all—we offer virtual services so you can get support no matter where you live. Whether it’s reviewing a treatment plan, preparing for an appointment, or helping you understand your insurance, we can do it all remotely. You don’t have to be local to have someone in your corner.
Do you give dental advice or second opinions?
We start by getting to know your situation and what matters most to you. Once we understand where you are in your dental journey, we work to ensure you and your dentist discuss all options and that nothing is overlooked. Our role is to bridge communication, explain the dental terms, and guide you with questions so you can feel confident in your decisions. While we don’t give second opinions or make diagnoses, we can point you to trusted resources if you’re looking for one.
Can you help me with dental insurance?
Dental insurance can be confusing—there are so many plans, and each one works differently. What’s your responsibility? Are there discounts? Is your plan a good fit for your dental needs? These are all smart and common questions. Fortunately, our founder is both a dental professional and a licensed insurance producer, so we understand the ins and outs of dental benefits. While we can’t speak directly to your insurance provider without a signed PHI form, we can help you understand your coverage and guide you through the key questions to ask about plans, claims, pre-estimates, and benefits.
Why would I need a dental advocate if I already have a dentist?
Because a dental advocate works for you—making sure you understand your options, feel confident speaking up, and don’t get lost in the process. They are there to make sure you understand your options, that all possibilities have been explored, that your voice is heard, and that your goals and rights are upheld.
Do you help caregivers?
Absolutely. We support caregivers by helping them understand the dental needs of their loved one, ask the right questions at appointments, and make sure nothing gets overlooked. We’re also there to see that your loved one is treated with the respect and compassion they deserve—especially if they’re facing cognitive challenges. If a caregiver isn’t present, we ensure all treatment options are clearly communicated, so decisions aren’t made without you. We’re here to lighten the load, keep you informed, and watch out for your family like we would our own.
Do you only work with seniors?
No. We advocate for people of all ages. That said, seniors are more likely to need an advocate because they often face complex treatment decisions, financial concerns, and communication barriers—sometimes while managing other health issues or memory challenges. While most dental professionals truly want to help, the fast pace of appointments and common assumptions about aging can leave seniors feeling rushed, unheard, or dismissed. An advocate makes sure they’re treated with respect, fully understand their options, and have someone in their corner to slow things down, ask the right questions, and protect their voice in the process.
How much do dental advocacy services cost?
Pricing varies depending on what type of advocacy service you need (In-Person or Virtual), as well as the length of time you need. Please visit our services page for more information.
Can you speak to my dentist or ask questions for me if I’m nervous or unsure what to say?
Absolutely! While we work for you, our background in clinical dentistry helps us communicate effectively with your dental team. We’re not there to step on anyone’s toes—we’re there to support a smoother, more collaborative experience by bridging communication and strengthening understanding on both sides. We’re proud to champion your voice. As advocates, we tailor our dental knowledge to reflect your priorities, asking the right questions based on what matters most to you.
Can you help me understand my dental treatment plan?
Yes! We know the codes, titles, and procedures that your dentist will have listed in your treatment plan. We take our time to ensure that you understand any plan that has been presented to you, as well as the reasoning behind it, and any alternatives that might be possible for your case.
Can you guarantee I will be happy with treatment I agree to with my dentist?
While we can’t guarantee the outcome of any dental treatment—that responsibility stays with the provider—we can help you feel more confident before moving forward. Our role is to make sure you fully understand the treatment being proposed, know what questions to ask, and feel that your concerns and priorities have been addressed. We do everything we can to support informed decisions, but the final results depend on the care provided by your dental team.
